It's that time of year again!"},"content":{"rendered":"<strong>Lyme disease... The season is starting up again.<\/strong>\r\n\r\nSeveral TVA news articles have already mentioned it...<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It says: insect-borne diseases on the rise, lyme disease already claiming victims in Quebec (see links below).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nWhat saddens me the most is seeing the nonchalance of several doctors in the face of this devastating illness. I don't want to generalize, but in the field of hyperbaric at Oxy Expert, I've heard all sorts of horror stories.\n\nThe biggest problem is the difficulty in getting diagnosed with Lyme disease. Most people have to pay out of pocket and go to the United States for an official diagnosis. Then, getting it recognized in Canada is another story!\n\nI have a mother who, after her young son, 3 years old, was bitten by a tick, called her doctor. She explained that she had removed a tick and even saw the famous target-like rash characteristic of this type of bite. The doctor's verdict: \u00abNothing to worry about, if he gets a fever, come see me, but not before?!\u00bb<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nToday, 1 year later, although the youngster has not been officially diagnosed, he has many symptoms of chronic pain... Congratulations to the Nobel Prize winner who has potentially mortgaged the life of this youngster and his parents!\r\n\r\nPeople like Sabrina Roy and Simon Martin, to name but a few, are fighting hard for recognition of lyme disease, as well as for government help to finance the hundreds of drugs they have to take and potential hyperbaric chamber sessions to increase the effectiveness of antibiotics and \u00abboost\u00bb their immune systems! Hats off to them and their courage!!!\r\n\r\nAnyway, the moral of the story is that if you see a tick or that famous target on you or one of your children, don't even hesitate to go to the emergency room to get treated as quickly as possible and avoid any potential destructive problems!
