Hyperbaric sessions? A potential alternative?
Thousands of Quebecers and millions of sleep apnea sufferers around the world have had the pleasant surprise of being told that their device, which helps them «function» better, could actually make them sick or even be carcinogenic!
Philips Respironics has issued a worldwide recall of millions of CPAP units for sleep apnea sufferers. The problem is the insulating foam used as a noise reducer. This polyurethane-based product could disintegrate and release certain toxic chemical gases.
The manufacturer states, «These problems can result in serious life-threatening injuries, cause permanent damage or require medical intervention to prevent permanent damage.» The series of risks starts with headache, respiratory irritation and «toxic and carcinogenic» effects. Truly unusual!
You see, the problem is that people are already reporting lung pain when breathing... Many have been using these devices for years! Philips, for their part, is asking people to immediately stop using the CPAP products in question. Okay, no problem, but will they be replaced? Yes, but we can imagine that the waiting time to replace several million machines will be no mean feat, and could take several months or even a year! And what about the manufacturers? With this terrible news, their order books are overflowing and they can't keep up with demand...
As a result, many sleep apnea sufferers for whom CPAP is almost vital have a big problem!!! Problem? Nhaaaaa... Specialists say that «If for you CPAP is a necessity to function, it's best to continue using it until you have a replacement device.» Potential problems with the device VS your pseudo quality of life vos mieux? You have to weigh up the pros and cons they say... I don't know about you, but personally it wouldn't reassure me!
Now people are looking for temporary and alternative solutions. That's when my ear was pricked. What if the PSH-TOIO stress decompression program and hyperbaric chamber sessions could give people a temporary helping hand? I looked into the matter and came across some scientific research on sleep apnea and hyperbarics, and to my astonishment, there was a lot more than I thought!
For example: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23493498/
In summary, this study reveals that 14 studies on 359 patients were able to demonstrate that the use of a hyperbaric chamber on people suffering from sleep apnea saw a significant improvement in their situation.
Then here on Youtube a doctor, Dr. Silio, tells us about his experiences with hyperbarics and sleep apnea. He uses hyperbarics as a COMPLEMENT to standard methods such as CPAP. Basically, he says that sleep apnea is caused by inflammation, which in turn reduces oxygen in tissues and blood plasma. And what do hyperbaric sessions do? It increases the saturation and densification of blood plasma and tissues. It's one of the most interesting avenues!

I invite you to do your own research on the subject. The Internet is overflowing with relevant information on the subject.
But you might ask, why isn't hyperbaric treatment an avenue for improving the well-being of people suffering from sleep problems such as sleep apnea? It's probably a question of time and money. A CPAP machine costs around 2000.00$ and is good for several years. It's at home and within easy reach. Sessions at a hyperbaric center or clinic cost between 50$ and 150$ per session! What's more, you have to travel to get there.
So, in conclusion, certain protocols such as PSH-TOIO and the use of the hyperbaric chamber could potentially be a temporary replacement tool for people suffering from sleep disorders and who have no other solution, but I wouldn't venture to say that this is the ultimate avenue for everyone!
